The DWSD North Service Center is a large reservoir and pumping station that serves a major portion of the Detroit Metropolitan area. This facility is fed by a 96-inch transmission main where the pressure is reduced through a series of 36-inch cone valves prior to entering the station. TYJT is designing an additional set of cone valves to assist in reducing the incoming pressure to the station. The project includes preparing contract documents and providing construction services for the design. The work includes connecting a new 54-inch steel pipe into the existing system, two 36-inch cone valves in series and a new large concrete vault to house the cone valves and isolation valves. The vault also is tied into the existing vault where the other cone valves reside.
